Find out about Foothold’s fundraising plan

Fliss Rook joined Foothold on the launch day of the new brand. Read about Fliss’ first day at Foothold as the organisation begins its foray into Foothold’s fundraising plan.

First day

I joined Foothold in October on the day the new name and brand was launched, and the next chapter in the charity’s history began.  It has been great to join the team at this exciting time of change. Three months on, I’ve now had the chance to ‘settle in’. I’ve learned about the  journey the charity has been on, and where we are going. And now I’m ready to kick-start Foothold’s fundraising plans.

We have ambitious plans to treble the amount of people we support. There are so many engineers and their families who aren’t aware we can help them, and that needs to change.

Foothold’s fundraising plan

Foothold receives no statutory funding – all our funding comes from the engineering community. Most of our supporters are members of the Institution of Engineering & Technology and we rely on their generosity. And that’s where my role comes in, because if we want to help more people, we need to raise more funds. We need to kick-start Foothold’s fundraising plan.

A large part of my role now is establishing a fundraising programme as this doesn’t exist currently. I’m looking at the different ways we might generate sustainable income so we can help this generation, and future generations of engineers and their families.

How you can help us

One of the ways individuals and communities can help is by doing their own fundraising for Foothold. We have developed a fundraising area on our new website dedicated to this. From bake sales at work, to taking on a challenge event at home or overseas, every pound raised really does help.

It has been great to hear from some of the communities that are supporting us – like Ross and his squadron at the MoD in Bristol who chose Foothold to benefit from the profits of its coffee bar and tuck shop.

If you have a fundraising idea or would like to fund out more about how you can get involved, please do get in touch, I’d love to hear from you.
